"I tried, but couldn't stop watching," she said. "It was exactly the same, except they have this horrible footage, events unfolding right before your eyes."
The Dec. 26, 2004, tsunami followed a magnitude 9.0 earthquake and smashed into coastal communities in 12 nations. Survivors in Indonesia's hard-hit Aceh province stroked each other's hands and cried as they watched coverage of the latest tsunami in Japan.
